About Dr. Jessica Moore

I hold a doctorate in Interpersonal and Family Communication from the University of Texas at Austin and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have professional education in mindfulness from both Duke University Integrative Medicine (MBSR) and the School of Professional Studies at Brown University (MBCT). I also completed training in compassion studies at the Stanford University Center for Compassion and Altruism Research and Education (CCH) and marital training from from the preeminent center in the country focused on relationship research, The Gottman Institute.

Prior to opening a private practice, I was a university professor for over 15 years and taught courses in Interpersonal Communication, Relational and Family Communication, Sex Communication, and Health Communication, among many others.

The philosophical orientation of my work is not only integrative, but highly relational in nature. I work closely with individual clients as well as couples to improve their lives, relationships, and overall wellbeing. Every client I see has distinct treatment and support needs; some flourish after a a short series of sessions and others may need ongoing therapy along with text or phone support to achieve their goals. Accordingly, I am well known to support clients in session as well as between sessions as part of my therapeutic paradigm— that might look like moral support and/or motivation between sessions, self-directed homework assignments, occasional humor to lighten a moment or laugh about a situation, celebrating accomplishments with you, or simple tool reminders to support your journey.

Providing clients with uplifting, educational, and individualized therapeutic experiences is my passion, which is why I left academia to enter full-time clinical practice.

I see clients with a wide variety of experiences, but I commonly support:

  • Anxiety and Depression

  • Individuals with High-Pressure Careers

  • Dating, Married, & Long-Term Relationships

  • Relational & Sexual Communication

  • Premarital, Discernment, and ENM Counseling

  • LGBTQIA+ Clients & Couples

  • Therapist & Psychologists

  • University Students & Professors

  • Outdoor & Walking Therapy

  • Mindfulness (MBSR/MBCT) & Self-Compassion Training

I am a native Texan, but I have lived across the US and now call the Austin area home. In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my dogs, biking, documentary films, live music, visual art, reading ridiculous amounts of nonfiction, and adventures with my spouse of over 20 years.

About Integrative Therapy of Texas

What is integrative therapy?

Integrative therapy is a progressive form of therapy in which the therapist combines therapeutic techniques to meet the needs of each unique client. In essence, it’s therapy that is tailored to fit the specific and evolving needs of each individual, couple, or family.

Where do you see clients?

I primarily see clients in my office in the Northwest Hills area of Austin and online through virtual therapy sessions. I also see a limited number of clients outdoors at select natural areas in and around Austin— commonly Central Park (38th @ Lamar) or Brushy Creek Lake Park.

What is walking therapy?

Walking therapy is a form of eco-therapy that take place outside, often while walking a predetermined path for the duration of the appointment. I offer walking therapy in the Austin area and am happy to discuss the potential to move your sessions outdoors. Walking therapy can be wonderful for many clients, but it’s not appropriate for every person or circumstance.

What are your rates?

50 minute sessions at Integrative Therapy of Texas range from $175 for individuals to $275 for couples and multi-person sessions. 75 minutes sessions are also available as needed to achieve our goals. I offer sliding scale discounted therapy services and special rates are offered for self-sustaining college students and those who may be experiencing financial hardship. Please ask for a sliding scale application if access to my services seems impossible or improbable. I hold a certain number of appointments per week for scaled clients.

Do you accept insurance?

Integrative Therapy of Texas does not process insurance claims on behalf of clients, but we are happy to provide documentation necessary to request reimbursement from your insurance company.
